Physical Therapy & Sports Medicine

Philip Health Services has developed a strong rehabilitation team which currently consists of Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Speech Language Pathology. The assimilation of this team has allowed Philip Health Services, Inc. to expand their services working towards their mission of providing comprehensive care to the people of Philip and the surrounding communities. In 2014 as business opportunities were increasing, the rehab department began to restructure and a transitional care unit (TCU) was developed. Each of the two main disciplines, PT and OT, attempts to see every TCU patient two times per day for a 45-minute session. This gives the patients a minimum of 180 minutes of therapy per day working on specialized interventions to return these individuals to their prior level of function.

The TCU is an extension of in-patient acute care services. It requires that an individual need further skilled medical care prior to returning home. Skilled services come in many forms, such as advanced nursing care, medical management, and rehabilitative services. To accommodate for this growth, the rehabilitation wing of the PHSI facility has been expanded through a remodel and 420 square feet was to the rehab gym and treatment areas. Generally speaking, physical therapy works to improve a patient’s overall mobility, lower extremity strength, and balance using a variety of therapeutic interventions while occupational therapy works on fine motor skills, upper extremity strengthening, and everyday living tasks.

Referrals are initiated by a physician or by calling (605) 859-3265.

  1. I just want to thank everyone at Hans Peterson Memorial Hospital. My daughter is visiting from out of town and on her way to SD she became quite ill. She thought it was the flu but after 30+ hours of vomiting her friend’s family brought her to your facility. Thanks to you guys you saved her life. Dr. Klopper and all the staff have been very patient with all the calls they have been receiving from us back in Boston. They are doing a super job trying to get Hilary out of the hospital. My husband and I can’t thank you enough.
