Kadoka Clinic

About the Kadoka Clinic

Philip Health Services’ satellite clinic in nearby Kadoka provides general health care to the Kadoka community. The Kadoka Clinic became part of Philip Health Services in 2000 and was extensively remodeled in 2006 to better serve patients. The Kadoka Clinic is staffed by a rotation of Philip Health Services medical staff.

A note on staffing

Philip Health Services makes every effort to staff a medical provider at the Kadoka Clinic four days per week. Occasionally, a provider may not be available at the Kadoka Clinic due to coverage requirements at the Philip Health Services Emergency Department.

In many cases, a clinic nurse at the Kadoka Clinic can assist you. Please call the Kadoka Clinic (605) 837-2257 to check provider availability or contact the Philip Clinic at (605) 859-2566 to schedule an appointment in Philip.

Out with the old and in with the new!

In 2017, following many nursing home closures across the state, the South Dakota Department of Health awarded Philip Health services the credentials to expand its long-term care unit by 12 beds. PHSI took the challenge and arranged for funding to begin the transformation of its long-term care facility.

In addition to USDA funds, a large capital campaign ensued. The local funding effort raised 2.8 million dollars, giving PHSI the capital it needed to embark on the much-anticipated updates, with a total price tag of 9.7 million dollars.

In December of 2022, the three-phase project was completed. This included an extra 7,000 square feet of new construction, including an occupational therapy gym, galley kitchen, two regular dining areas, a private dining area, and resident rooms. The new construction also includes a designated memory care unit.

A full demolition and remodel of the original nursing home, built in 1968, consisted of approximately 4,000 square feet and included the 12-bed expansion, departmental offices, and a full nurses’ station. The remodel increased the number of private rooms available while expanding the old semi-private rooms, allowing for every room to have an ensuite bath.

The updated facility is a beautiful addition to the community and allows residents to live in a warm home-like environment. State-of-the-art call systems and up to date finishes make the facility a gem in the crown of Philip Health Services.

Home Away from Home

The Silverleaf Assisted Living Center is licensed by the SD Department of Health. We provide for the physical, social, emotional and spiritual needs of our residents.

We provide 24-hour supervision while assisting residents with their personal care, medication administration, oxygen needs, and impaired cognitive and physical abilities. The coffee pot is always on and the aroma of fresh baked bread and cookies often drifts from our open kitchen where dietary staff creates and serves delicious, home-cooked meals. We provide dining assistance, as needed, and provide a healthy menu with the help of our licensed dietician.

About The Space

Our front and back patios and spacious communal living/dining area provide residents with ample indoor/outdoor space in which to socialize, while the comfortable apartments and private living room areas cater to those residents who desire the quiet surroundings of their personal space. About the Philip Clinic

The Philip Clinic, also known as the R.J. Talty Medical Center, was named for a benefactor who left virtually his entire estate to Philip Health Services. The Philip Clinic is a Medicare certified rural health clinic. Primary family medical care is provided by our medical staff of physicians and mid-level providers.

On-site Lab and Medical Imaging

Comprehensive medical care is now a reality with our on-site lab, medical imaging department, and a roster of regularly visiting medical specialists.

Pediatrics, prenatal care, minor surgery, CT scans and more are now available without having to leave town!

About Hans P. Peterson Memorial Hospital

Hans P. Peterson Memorial Hospital is an 18-bed critical access hospital, providing emergency care 24 hours a day. The Hans P. Peterson Memorial Hospital was established in 1953 with the help of Philip, South Dakota rancher and philanthropist, Hans P. Peterson. Peterson deeded his ranch so that a hospital could be built to serve our rural area, and members of the community joined together to raise funds to complete it.
